Matt is happily married to his wife Maryellen, and they live in the Canonsburg area (North Strabane Township). Though not a Pittsburgh native, Matt has spent the last 32 years in Pittsburgh. After graduating from Penn State Matt began his career as an auditor for Capital Blue Cross in the Harrisburg area and then came to Pittsburgh to work at Highmark. During his time at Highmark he moved into the sales/marketing of health insurance and that eventually led to working for the Pennsylvania Automotive Association (PAA) marketing health insurance to car dealers across Western PA.

Matt retired in July of 2024 and started at Cindy Cohen months later on a part time basis.

Matt’s experience teaching came from first teaching accounting classes at WVU while attending graduate school and then teaching insurance agents Highmark individual and group insurance products and underwriting concepts.

For fun Matt enjoys riding his ebike on the Montour trail, skiing in Western New York and has a deep passion for the stock market and investments in general. Additionally, Matt loves to drive as evidenced by his over 100 trips driven to Florida.
